Close your pores after shaving to avoid clogged pores and skin irritation. The painful feeling of post-shave burn can also be remedied if you close your pores. In addition, properly closed pores give skin a tight, clean appearance. If you're pressed for time in the morning, rest assured that closing your pores after your daily shave won't take more than a minute or two. You can easily close your pores in just a few simple steps.

Wet your face with cool water. Once you've finished shaving, use your hands or a water-soaked washcloth to splash your freshly shaved face down with cool water. Wash away any leftover foam. This will close your pores and pave the way for your aftershave.

Apply your aftershave. Use your hands to gently pat aftershave onto your face. This will completely seal your pores and help remove any remaining shaving residue. But be warned; most aftershaves give way to a brief stinging sensation.

Apply your aftershave gel. If you don't want to deal with the stinging sensation caused by standard aftershaves, substitute the product for a soothing aftershave gel. Apply this product in the same manner as you would an aftershave.
