Instructions

  1. Creating the Design

    • 1

Choose three to five knots that you want to use when creating your own design.

    • 2

Determine the width of each knot style. Each knot creates its own design. Repeating the knot widens that design.

    • 3

Set the order of the knots and write down the knots, the number of times you'll use them and the order in which you'll use them so that you can replicate your design.

    Executing the Design

    • 4

Cut six strands of embroidery floss to approximately 60 inches. Fold the strands in half and tie a knot slightly down from the fold, leaving a loop at the end of the floss.

    • 5

Clip the loop beneath the clip on a clipboard.

    • 6

Tie your first series of knots. Make the predetermined number of rows of this knot. Tie the second series of knots, completing the number of rows according to your design. Continue tying your knots in the appropriate pattern until you reach nearly the end of your floss.

    • 7

Tie the strands of floss together in a knot. Leave the loose strands of floss dangling so that the recipient can use them to tie the friendship bracelet to her wrist.

Tips & Warnings

  • The more strands of floss you use, the wider your bracelet will be.

  • The more knots you use, the more intricate your bracelet will be.

  • Make sure that you have enough room to repeat the pattern at least three times.
