Connecting Facebook with your Zen Cart is a user-friendly operation.

Zen Cart is a free shopping cart software developed to assist e-commerce entrepreneurs who sell goods on their websites. This software is developed by online shop owners who want to cater to other shop owners who need user-friendly shopping carts that can be installed and used without an IT degree. Zen Cart has various features that enhance your shoppers' experiences. For instance, you can connect Facebook to Zen Cart so Facebook members can "Like" your products. This enables shoppers to easily share your products on Facebook, which can help boost your credibility and sales.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the administrator and editing tool you use to program the site where you have your Zen Cart set up.

    • 2

Go to the web page where you set up Zen Cart (i.e., www.yoursite.com/yourproductpage).

    • 3

Navigate to the "Like Button" web page available at Developers.Facebook.com (see Resources). This is the page where you get the code you need to connect Facebook with your Zen Cart.

    • 4

Enter the URL of the web page where you set up Zen Cart in the "URL to Like" field. This would be the URL of the product page that you want people to be able to "Like" (i.e., www.yoursite.com/yourproductpage).

    • 5

Click the check-box displayed beside where it says "Send Button" if you want to add a "Send" button along with the "Like" button. You can add a "Send" button only if your site uses JavaScript SDK. If your site doesn't use JavaScript SDK, leave the check-box unchecked.

    • 6

Click the drop-down menu displayed beneath where it says "Layout Style" and select the layout style you like. You can click on each option and view how the buttons will look.

    • 7

Enter the width you want for your button in the "Width" field. The default width is 450. Increase or decrease the size depending on your needs.

    • 8

Click to check the "Show faces" check-box if you want to display the face of those who have liked your Zen Cart product. If you don't want faces to be shown, leave the check-box unchecked.

    • 9

Click the drop-down menu beneath the "Verb to display" section and choose whether you want the button to say "Like" or "Recommend."

    • 10

Click the drop-down menu displayed under where it says "Color Scheme" and select the "light" or "dark" option, depending on the color of your website's background.

    • 11

Select a font and then click the "Get Code" tab to get your code. A window titled "Your Like Button plugin code" will pop up. Highlight the code displayed in this window and press "Ctrl" plus "V" to copy the code.

    • 12

Go back to the administrator and editing tool you use to program the site where you have Zen Cart set up. Paste the code in the "Code" section of the product page you want people to be able to "Like," and click "Save" to save the changes. The product page where you entered the code will now be connected to Facebook, and people will be able to "like" and "recommend" your product.
