A bald cap can give the appearance of a bald head.

A bald cap can come in handy on a number of occasions, mostly centering on dressing up in a costume. If you are not willing to go that extra mile and shave your head, a homemade bald cap can do the trick. A bald cap is a flesh-colored, skin-textured cap that gives the appearance of a bald head. Latex and a skillful makeup application can turn anyone "bald."

Instructions

    • 1

Draw four hairlines from ear to ear on the wig mannequin with permanent marker. The first hairline should come down to the end of the mannequin's forehead, just above the eyes. Draw the second hairline 3/4 inches behind the first one. Draw two more hairlines, each 1/2 inch behind the other. You should have four hairlines that serve as a guide for the different layers of latex.

    • 2

Dab the liquid latex with the make-up sponge over the entire head up to the first hairline to create a thin latex layer.

    • 3

Dry the latex layer with the hair dryer.

    • 4

Dab another layer all over the head to the second line and dry.

    • 5

Dab a layer to the third hairline and dry, followed by another layer to the fourth hairline and dry.

    • 6

Dab four more layers to the fourth hairline drying with the hair dryer between each layer.

    • 7

Dust the outside of the dried cap with baby powder paying special attention to the edges.

    • 8

Carefully lift the front of the bald cap with one hand while powdering the inside with the other. The powder prevents the cap from sticking to itself and tearing.

    • 9

Continue to peel the cap from the wig mannequin while powdering the inside of the cap until it is completely removed from the mannequin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use neutral color liquid latex to make the cap. Cover it with make-up to match it to the skin color of the person wearing it.
