How to Minimize a JPG in Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver, the Adobe software used for building Web pages, makes it simple to import and insert pictures for your sites. Adding images such as JPGs or JPEGs is a quick process, but Dreamweaver places images on the page in their raw form, including their current size. This may result in a picture that's too large for your purposes, but you can minimize, or shrink, a JPG in Dreamweaver with a bit of careful attention to keeping the image's dimensions correct so it looks picture-perfect.

1
Start Dreamweaver. Click the file name of the Web page with the JPG to minimize in the "Open a Recent Item" column. If the page doesn't appear there, click the "Open" link, navigate to the page and double-click it.
-
2
Scroll to the JPG if it doesn't already appear on the main portion of the Web page.

-
3
Click the JPG to highlight it. A thin border with black squares in each of the corners surrounds the JPG.
-
4
Press and hold down the "Shift" key. Click one of the JPG's corners and drag it in towards the center of the picture; the image shrinks. Release the "Shift" key when the JPG is minimized to your preferred size.

Tips & Warnings
If you don't already have a JPG in your Dreamweaver image, you can import and minimize one. After opening either an existing Dreamweaver page or clicking the "HTML" link on the start page to create a new page, click the "Insert" menu at the top of the work area. Click "Image," browse to the JPG and double-click it, then follow the rest of the instructions.
Another way to minimize a JPG is to shrink it using the Property Inspector, located at the bottom of the work area. Click into the text box to the right of either the "W" or the "H" next to the mini-representation of the image, and type in smaller numbers. Note that minimizing a JPG this way leaves you vulnerable to distortion, so keep the same ratio between the numbers to ensure that the picture doesn't look smushed or stretched.
