How to Make a USB Non-Removable
When dealing with sensitive files on your computer, you may wish to use additional means -- besides the usual password protection -- to protect them. One way to do this is to use a software program to make your USB stick non-removable. When you do this, the software creates a complicated sequence of numbers and letters on your USB stick, and your operating system only runs properly when this code is present.

1
Go to IDSecuritySuite.com and get USB Lock Key. The program works by creating a special code that's required for your computer to run, and installing that code onto your USB stick. Anyone who tries to access your computer during this time will see a blocked screen that prevents them from doing anything. As of the date of publication, USB Lock Key costs $37.

2
Get Predator from Montpellier-Informatique.com. Once you configure Predator, your computer only runs properly if your USB stick is inserted into your computer. When it's removed, your mouse and keyboard are disabled and the screen darkens. As of the date of publication, Predator costs $29.

Go to SourceForge.net and download USB System Lock. The software creates a unique number that is stored on both your computer and your USB stick -- when the number isn't present -- meaning when you remove the USB stick -- your computer won't function. As of the date of publication, USB System Lock is free to use.
