How to Match a Tuxedo to a Gown

Your date probably wants your tux to match her dress.

Women often want their dates' tuxes to match their gowns when it comes to proms, weddings and other formal occasions. In this sense, men have it easy. Women have to find a gown, shoes, jewelry, have their hair done, a manicure and pedicure and find an evening bag to carry their essentials. Men only have to find a tux that matches the gown, get fitted and pick it up a day or so before the big occasion. It might seem intimidating to match a tux to a gown, but the process is not difficult.

Instructions

1. Ask your date what color dress she is wearing to the formal occasion; have her provide you with a photo of the color or give you something the same color to take with you when you rent your tux. This is the best way to ensure you match your tux to the correct shade of the color of her dress.

2. Provide the color of your date's dress to the associate assisting you at the tux shop. He can find something in the same color or recommend a complementary color in case the exact color is not available.

3. Try on a tux style you like. Decide on a vest, cummerbund and tie to wear that are the same color as your date's dress. Get fitted and order your tux.
