How to Make Tarzan Clothes
If you want to go as Tarzan or Jane for Halloween, you don't need to spend the extra money on a store-bought costume. Tarzan clothing is primitive, so it should be easy to make. In addition, it will fit you better if you make the costume yourself. Fake fur fabric or fake fur with a leopard print can be found in most craft supplies stores or fabric stores and are ideal for making a loin cloth or a primitive jungle woman dress.

Tarzan Loincloth
-
1
Wrap 2 yards of fake fur animal print fabric, or plain-colored fake fur fabric around your waist, and mark where the fabric overlaps the end by 6 inches with sewing chalk. Remove the fabric, and cut along the width of the fabric where you made the mark.
-
2
Fold the fabric in half width-wise, and cut the fabric along the fold so you have two equal halves. Put the pieces on your waist again, with one half covering your front and the other half covering your backside. Pin the top corners together with safety pins so they stay on you as you work.
-
-
3
Draw jagged lines along the bottom edge of the front panel, and make sure the cloth still covers you adequately. Turn the two sides of the cloth around your waist so the back panel is now in front. Draw jagged lines along the bottom edge, but don't make it look the same as the front. Make sure the cloth will still cover you.
-
4
Remove the safety pins, and take off the panels of fabric. Cut along the jagged lines you drew with the chalk, and wipe away the remaining chalk marks with a damp cloth.
-
5
Put the cloths on your front and backside from your waist down, and pin the top corners together on either side of your waist. Wrap a rope around your waist, and tie the ends together to help keep them up. Be sure to wear shorts underneath.

6
Measure and cut leopard print fake fur fabric twice the distance from your shoulders down to your knees, and the width of the distance from one of your shoulders to the other.
-
7
Fold the piece of fabric in half, and cut a 10-inch-wide half-circle in the middle of the folded end. Slip your head through the 10-inch-wide opening so the fabric is right-side out and one half is covering your front and the other half is covering your back.
-
8
Pin the sides together on either side of your waist to get the right fit for the dress. Draw uneven jagged lines along the bottom edge of the front and back of the dress, and make sure the jagged lines don't go up too high so you are still properly covered. Draw the lines along the edges of the neckline as well.
-
9
Take off the dress, and cut along the lines. When you are ready to wear the dress, make sure you are wearing underclothes, and slip your head through the head opening. Pin the dress together on the sides of the waist with safety pins, and tie around the waist with a rope.
