Learn how to make a pair of mini sunglasses in any size or shape.

Make a pair of custom miniature sunglasses for one of your dolls that matches her outfits, or just make a pair to display in a miniature collection. As long as you make the frames symmetrical on both sides, you can make the frames any shape and size that you want with the help of some inexpensive materials that you may already have in your home. You also won't need to go through any extra steps to attach hinges to the frames.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a ruler on a piece of thin cardboard with a pencil and use the ruler to help you measure and draw the frame of the sunglasses on the cardboard in the size you need. If you are making the miniature sunglasses for a doll, measure across the eyes to get the measurement for the front of the frames, and from the outside corners of the eyes to the back of the ears for the measurement of the sides of the frames. Look at a real pair of sunglasses to get the right shape. Draw the front and the sides all as one piece so you don't have to worry about trying to attach hinges to connect the sides of the frame to the front.

    • 2

Color within the lines of the frames you just drew with a black permanent marker, or a marker in whatever color you want the frames to be. Use a thin-tipped pen to draw a design around the frames if you want.

    • 3

Cut around the outside lines of the frames with a pair of scissors to cut them out. Cut out the insides of the frames carefully with the tip of a sharp utility knife.

    • 4

Fold the sides of the frames back where the edges of the front meet the sides of the frame. Make sure the colored or designed surfaces of the frames are facing out.

    • 5

Place the front of the frames face down on a sheet of dark colored cellophane and trace around the outside edge of the frames with a pen. Cut along the traced line to cut out the lenses of the sunglasses.

    • 6

Apply a thin amount of white craft glue to the inside surface of the front of the sunglasses frames. Glue the piece of cellophane you cut out to the frames and make sure the edges are aligned. Wait one hour for the glue to dry and your mini sunglasses are finished.
