Lists are wonderful tools for staying organized and on task. One area of work that becomes easier with a list is housekeeping. Housekeeping is important for multiple reasons, such as maintaining a sanitary environment for your family and creating an attractive, comfortable space in which to live. Creating a housekeeping list allows you to keep track of daily, weekly and seasonal chores. The list also helps you to feel a sense of accomplishment when you can see exactly which chores you completed. Does this Spark an idea?

      Create a list titled "Daily/Weekly Chores" with columns labeled for the days of the week. Assign tasks that must be done each week to one or more days. For example, you might write "Make beds" under each day's column. You could assign "Vacuum" to one specific day, such as Thursday.

      Make a list titled "Monthly Chores." Create four columns labeled "Week 1," "Week 2," "Week 3" and "Week 4." Add chores that must be completed about once or twice a month to one or more columns. For example, you might write "Dust ceiling fans" under Week 1.

      Create a list titled "Seasonal Chores" and add four columns labeled "Spring," "Summer," "Fall" and "Winter." Write in chores that must be completed from one to four times per year on the chart. For example, you might write "Rake and bag leaves" under the Fall column.

      Post the lists in a highly visible place so that you can refer to them when you need to.
