"Harry Potter: Spells" is a free-to-play iPhone and iPod Touch app that lets you join Hogwarts and learn how to cast spells. The app makes use of both the device's touchscreen and accelerometer to help you cast spells. You can cast spells using this app in one of two ways.

Select a desired mode in "Harry Potter: Spells." This includes Practice mode, Learn mode or Duel mode.

Trace the desired shape on your screen. For example, the offensive Expelliarmus spell requires you to trace your finger from the upper left-hand corner to the upper right-hand corner, then down to the lower right-hand corner.

Swing your phone in the desired path as an alternate way to cast the spell. For example, the Alchomora spell requires you to swing your iPod from right to left.
