How to Make an Origami Foil Bracelet
When origami jewelry is made, it's usually a simple item, such as a regular origami design that it created on a small scale and attached to a necklace or used as a pin. Bracelets are not frequently made using origami. However, an origami bracelet can be quite striking. A bracelet which features a diamond shaped pattern is especially interesting when folded using foil. This gives the entire bracelet a metallic look.

1
Lay out a rectangular piece of foil or foil paper, with the colored side down. The foil should be about ¾ inch wide and 6 ½ inches long. If you want a wider or slimmer bracelet, adjust only the width of the rectangles. Foil of this length will fit most wrists when the bracelet is complete, but small adjustments can be made to the length of the foil if necessary.
-
2
Rotate the foil so the longest edges are horizontal.
-
-
3
Fold the foil in half vertically, bringing the right edge to touch the left edge. Crease and unfold.
-
4
Fold the left-hand edge of the foil in to the right so it rests along the vertical center line. Fold the right-hand edge in so that it too rests along the center line.
-
5
Fold the foil in half vertically again, bringing the left edge to meet the right edge. This is one unit of the bracelet. Fold 15 more units in the same way.
-
6
Hold one unit in your hand with the split end facing to the right. Note that each split end is two layers of paper, which create a pocket. Slide the split ends of a second unit into the tops of the respective pockets of the first unit.
-
7
Rotate the two joined units slightly so the second unit points to the right.
-
8
Attach a third unit by sliding the points of the third unit into the pockets of the second unit. This time, though, insert the third unit through the bottom of the second unit, so the third unit sticks up.
-
9
Insert a fourth unit through the top of the third unit. Keep inserting units in this manner until you get to the final unit.
-
10
Unfold the final unit until it is simply folded in half before inserting it into the bracelet. It's much longer than the previous units. Insert the final unit into the 15th unit, in the same manner as you inserted all the previous units.
-
11
Curve the bracelet around so it makes a circle. Weave the long ends of the final unit into the free pockets of the first unit. Push the long ends of the 16th unit through the pockets of the first unit; then tuck those arms back into the 16th unit. This secures the bracelet.
