How to Build a Business Server Machine

Some business servers are networked together in large data centers.

Business servers help employees collect, store and maintain company business data, contact information, emails and more. Depending on your budget and user base, the equipment you use to build your business server will vary, however there are a few key principles to bear in mind.

1. Define the key requirements for the server by speaking with the server's potential users and determining what they will be using it for. Create the list of required hardware based on the user requirements.

2. Price each individual server component and create a spreadsheet that illustrates the cost of each component. Shop at various hardware retailers to obtain the best prices for each component and try to keep the costs as low as you can, even if you have an unlimited budget, you can use the saved money and re-allocate it for additional server needs.

3. Hire an information technology consultant to configure the server and set up the software that runs it. Ensure the consultant works directly with the server's user groups so their needs are met.
