A handkerchief, or pocket square, really adds a modicum of style to an average suit, especially when paired with a matching tie. The handkerchief can be functional, too, although the advent of disposable tissues has rendered the handkerchief to mostly being a fashion accessory. There are a number of folds that can be created with a handkerchief, including the flat pocket square fold, puff pocket square fold and the one-point pocket square fold.       Lay the handkerchief on a flat surface.

      Fold the handkerchief in half with the left edge folded over to lie atop the right edge. Fold the handkerchief in half again, this time taking the bottom edge and laying it atop the top edge.

      Turn the folded handkerchief slightly so it has a diamond shape.

      Fold the left corner inward so it rests in the middle of the handkerchief. Repeat with the right corner so the left corner is resting next to the right corner in the middle.

      Fold the bottom corner up to the middle so that it meets the other corners.

      Slide the folded handkerchief into your jacket or vest pocket.
