Fresh $1 bills create crisper money roses.

Liven up any bouquet by adding money roses to the floral arrangement. Most people choose $1 bills to create their roses, but any denomination of money will create a festive money rose. If you simply want to create a paper rose without monetary value, use a $1 bill as a template on construction paper and use the cutouts to make a paper rose. Stop by a floral or craft store to pick up the necessary supplies. Keep a picture of a rose nearby for inspiration. Make your money roses on a flat surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a $1 bill and lay it on a flat surface. Newer bills yield the best results.

    • 2

Use a toothpick to roll the four corners of the bill toward the center. Flip the bill over so the curls are facing down. The curls will appear on the outside of the rose. Place the two shorter ends of the bill together to fold the bill in half.

    • 3

Take a 24-inch piece of floral wire and set the wire inside the fold. Center the wire inside the money so both sides have an equal amount of wire protruding from the ends. Press your index finger down on the wire and money fold to further define the crease.

    • 4

Bring the two ends of the wire together, scrunching the fold in the middle of the bill. The floral wire is now a 12-inch stem for the rose.

    • 5

Repeat steps one to three with four additional bills, so you have created five rose buds.

    • 6

Arrange your floral buds together to create a money rose. Twist the floral wires together to tighten the stem.

    • 7

Tape the wires together with green floral tape, beginning at the top. Wrap the tape around the wires in a circular fashion. Cut off the end of the floral tape and smooth the end to the rest of stem.

    • 8

Arrange the corners of the $1 bills to your taste. Separate the curled corners from the center to create a larger rose.
