You can use certificates to reward your students' Sunday school achievements.

Some churches offer Sunday school classes where children and adults gather to study Bible lessons and stories in a small, informal atmosphere. After the class completes a particular unit or throughout the class, Sunday school teachers might give students small prizes, notebooks, Bible journals or certificates to recognize each class participant's diligence and dedication. If you want to make a Sunday school certificate, you can create it on a computer using word processing software.

Instructions

    • 1

Access Open Office or Microsoft Word on your computer and click the "New" or a similarly named tab to open a blank document.

    • 2

Click the "Templates" tab and scroll through the list until you find the "Certificates" category. Depending on the software's year and version, you can choose from different types of certificates, such as academic or congratulatory, to recognize your Sunday school students.

    • 3

Find the certificate template that you want and double-click it.

    • 4

Personalize the certificate. To tailor the wording of the text, drag your mouse across the phrase that you want to change and delete it.

    • 5

Add phrases, such as "Thanks for Your Participation," "Outstanding Sunday School Student" or the phrase of your choice that describes the student or Sunday school event. You can also experiment with different borders, text and background colors.

    • 6

Include the student's name, date and the church's name and location.

    • 7

Insert card stock or another type of heavy-duty paper into the printer and print the certificate.

Tips & Warnings

  • Visit a local retail or office supply store and ask a store clerk to help you locate blank certificates. You can insert them into your printer's paper feeder and print directly on the document.

  • You can also search and download certificate templates directly from the Open Office and Microsoft Word websites.
