Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an at-home beard coloring kit such as those produced by Just For Men or Blackbeard For Men. These kits are available at most grocery stores and usually cost around eight to 10 dollars, as of August of 2011. Most kits include a tube of color dye, a tube of color developer, a brush to apply the dye, rubber or plastic gloves and perhaps other accessories, such as a mixing tray.

    • 2

Put on a pair of rubber or plastic gloves and squeeze a line from the color tube into the mixing tray that is included in the kit. Squeeze the same amount of color developer onto the opposite side of the tray. Mix together with the included brush. Dip the brush into the mixture and apply the mixture to a dry beard. Use the brush in a vertical motion, moving it up and down to cover all of the hair. Avoid getting dye on the skin; it will stain. Peroxide can be used to remove the dye if this should happen.

    • 3

Leave the mixture on for no more than five minutes or the coloring might leave the beard too dark. Watch the time with the clock or a timer. Rinse off the color dye with warm water in the sink or the shower until the water runs clear. Shampoo out. Do not use soap; it will dry out the skin.
