How to Make a Golden Snitch Necklace

Display your love for the Harry Potter franchise with a Quidditch-themed necklace. The Golden Snitch is the item caught to win the game. The Golden Snitch is a gold flying ball. Unless you can find a Snitch charm, you will need to make your own. In addition to a Golden Snitch, add beads to display your support for your favorite Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry House: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Syltherin or Gryffindor.

Instructions

    • 1

      Sand the wooden bead lightly.

    • 2

Cover the wooden bead in sealant. Let it dry completely before continuing--about five hours.

    • 3

Paint the wooden bead gold. Let the paint dry overnight. Don't paint over the holes.

    • 4

Cut a 15- to 17-inch piece of jewelry wire. Slide the end of the wire through the loop on one piece of the jewelry clasp. Bend the end of the wire so that it points downward. Twist the wires around the clasp piece.

    • 5

Fill the necklace half full of beads. Alternate between the two colors. For Hufflepuff, use yellow and black beads. To represent Slytherin, use green and silver beads. Use blue and silver (movie) or bronze (book) for Ravenclaw. Use red and gold for Gryffindor.

    • 6

Slide one wing charm onto the necklace. Add the wooden bead, and then the other wing charm. Make sure that the wing details face outward.

    • 7

Fill the rest of the necklace with the beads, except for the last inch. Attach the other end of the toggle clasp the same way you put on the first piece.
