How to Manually Reset a PlayStation 3 Wireless Controller
Wireless PlayStation 3 controllers use Bluetooth technology to link up with your PlayStation 3. Connectivity issues can arise when a PS3 controller is used on several consoles. The response of the buttons and joysticks can also become unreliable and affect your gameplay, and the controller may even fail to connect to your system. A synchronization reset brings the controller back to its factory condition, and once it is reset, you can reconnect it to your console.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure the wireless controller is charged when you're troubleshooting connection problems.
PS3 controllers use their battery power all the time, even when they're not in use. Recharge them frequently.
Don't use a sharp object to press the delicate "Reset" button. This can cause damage to the controller.
