How to Defeat Dogs on Zombies

Kill Hellhounds to advance to the next level in Zombies mode.

In the multiplayer Zombies mode of "Call of Duty: Black Ops," you defend your territory and your life from endlessly attacking zombies. Hellhounds, zombie-like dogs with glowing, crimson eyes, appear only in the Kino der Toten map. In this decrepit, abandoned theater, Hellhounds spawn randomly every few rounds. Hellhounds are much faster than humans, so you need to kill them before they chase you down. These dogs are no stronger than regular zombies, though, so a few quick shots eliminates them before they cause you trouble.

Instructions

1. Listen for the announcer to say "Fetch me their souls," when the level begins. If you hear this, it means that Hellhounds are about to spawn.

2. Look around you in all directions to avoid a surprise Hellhound attack. When a Hellhound spawns, a bolt of lighting appears and the floor starts to shake.

3. Give at least one person on your team a Trench Gun, if one is available. Shoot a Hellhound just once with a Trench Gun to kill it instantly.

4. Run away from Hellhounds as fast as you can. When Hellhounds are about to attack, they pause for a second. Use this time to turn around and shoot them with a gun like the MG42 or the Browning.

5. Back away from fiery Hellhounds as soon as you kill them. Fiery Hellhounds explode a few seconds after they die, and this causes heavy damage.

6. Run towards the turret and the stairs in the theater if you are having trouble with the Hellhounds. Stand on the wood boards jutting out from the side of the stairs. From this position, you can safely kill Hellhounds without taking any damage.

Tips & Warnings

• Avoid using weak weapons, like the M1911 pistol, against the Hellhounds.
