The Gmail Sync Is Stuck
Offline Gmail is a plugin for Google Gmail that allows you to synchronize your email folders and messages with your desktop computer, so that you can access your messages even if your Internet connection fails. Google created the plugin before the changing the default Gmail access protocol from unsecured "http" to the more secure "https" type. For Offline Gmail to be able to synchronize messages between your desktop client and the webmail version properly, you must access Gmail using the regular "http" protocol when logging into the service. By default, though, Gmail redirects logins to the "https" URL -- even if you enter "http://gmail.com" into your Web browser. Fortunately, there is a simple workaround.

Click the "gear" icon again, then "Mail Settings." Click the "Offline" tab, and then enable the "Enable Offline Mail for this computer" option. Click the "Save" button.
