Instructions

    • 1

Pour liquid starch into a large shallow container. The starch should be at least 2 inches deep.

    • 2

Fill another container with several inches of cold water. This is for rinsing your paper off at the end. Set it to the side.

    • 3

Drip drops of paint onto the surface of the starch. Use one or more colors. If using more than one color, make sure they are complementary.

    • 4

Move the paint around with a brush or toothpicks. Make swirls, lines and other designs.

    • 5

Drop a piece of paper lightly onto the starch and paint. Don't let the paper sink. Let it sit for only one or two seconds.

    • 6

Pick up the paper by one corner and let the liquid drip off back into the pan. Put the paper into the pan full of cold water for a few seconds to wash off the starch.

    • 7

Pick up the paper and let the water drip off. Lay the wet paper on paper towels to dry. The painted side should be facing up. Allow the paper to dry for at least 2 hours.

    • 8

Iron your paper flat using a low setting.
