If you love the look of a poofy, uplifted ponytail, you can create it with the help of an elastic band, a headband and a little hairspray. Uplifting the hair is easier for women or men with long, thick hair. However, you can create a voluminous look with any hair type by teasing it before you put in your hair accessories. Things You'll Need

  • Hair spray
  • Hair brush (barrel roll brush)
  • Hair dryer
  • Elastic band
  • Headband

Instructions

      Spray your hair with hair spray for about 30 seconds, making sure to hit all sides of your hair. Your hair should be dry.

      Flip your hair over and brush it out with a large barrel roll hair brush in one hand while you blow dry it with another.

      Flip your hair back over and tease it by grabbing it at the roots and gently pulling a small barrel roll hair brush about an inch from the roots and down to the roots. Repeat with hair on the top of your head. Gently brush the hair back toward your head.

      Brush your hair into a ponytail that is just below the crown of your head. Pull the strands on the side of the ponytail, at the right and left sides. As you do this, the crown of your hair will lift.

      Place a headband on top of your head.
