How to Make Your Hair Non-static
When your hair is dry and full of static, it will stand up and be messy and out of place. Washing and blow drying your hair causes hair follicles to dry out, resulting in flyaways and static charge. Non-static hair looks and feels smooth to the touch. To achieve smooth hair and to prevent static, treat your hair with silicone-based products so that your hair stays in place. 1
Wash your hair with a silicone-based shampoo and conditioner. Clairol, Aveda, Pantene and Infusium all make hair products with silicone in them and are sold at grocery and drug stores. Silicone coats the hair and neutralizes any electrical charges, which keeps your hair smooth and free from flyaways.

Brush your hair with a hairbrush made with natural bristles. Brushes made with synthetic or plastic bristles spread static throughout the hair. They can even cause your hair to become full of static if there's a buildup of loose hair already on the brush.

Rub a fabric softener dryer sheet on your hair. The dryer sheet helps reduce static in hair just like it does in clothes. Consider carrying a dryer sheet in your purse or pocket in case your hair gets full of static while you're out and about. You may want to use an unscented dryer sheet to avoid the often overpowering and heavy fragrance of some scented dryer sheets.

4
Avoid washing your hair every day. Daily shampooing strips your hair of natural oils and causes it to dry out.
