A necktie wrist cuff is essentially a bracelet made out of a necktie. If you have an old tie that nobody wants to wear you can recycle it into a cute accessory, custom made to fit your wrist and your style. And you only need basic sewing skills to complete the project.

  • Measuring tape

Instructions

  1. Instructions for Basic Version

      Measure around your wrist. Add 1 inch to this measurement. Working at the wide end of the necktie, start from the widest part of the necktie and measure up the tie to the measurement you came up with for your wrist plus the 1 inch. Cut off this length from the necktie.

      At the narrow end, fold under 1/2 inch and sew to make a finished edge.

      Attach a strip of Velcro across the width of the top of the narrower finished edge. Add the other strip of Velcro of equal length across the widest part of the necktie so you can attach it to your wrist. If desired, you can place a small piece of Velcro at the tip of the tie to make it lie flat. Attach the other piece of Velcro directly underneath.

      Decorate your completed necktie wrist cuff with fabric paints or gemstones or leave it as is for a fashionable wrist accessory.

    Instructions for Fancy Version

      From the widest section of the necktie, measure 3 inches up the length of the tie and cut off the wider end at this marking. Start the measurement at the widest part of the necktie.

      Measure around your wrist. Add 1 inch to this measurement and cut that length off the narrow end of the necktie.

      Fold under 1/2 inch on the cut end and sew to make a finished edge, working on the narrow end of the necktie. Working on the wide end of the necktie, fold under 1/2 inch on the cut end and sew to make a finished edge

      Place the wide piece of necktie perpendicular across the width of the narrow piece of necktie in the center, making the widest part of the tie even with an edge of the narrow strip of necktie. Pin it into place. Fold the finished edge of the wide piece underneath the narrow piece and pin it into place. Sew the wider piece of necktie perpendicular across the width of the narrow piece in the center.

      Attach Velcro to the ends of the narrow piece of necktie appropriately and your fancy necktie wrist cuff is ready to wear.
