How to Remove Scars From a Picture

You can remove scars from a photo using any number of photo editing programs. The program you choose needs a certain degree of sophistication to enable this process to be completed properly. You can always simply erase the scars even with prepackaged programs such as Microsoft Paint; however, only the more-sophisticated programs will truly enable a proper removal. Some free programs contain the requisite sophistication to perform this task properly. The GIMP program is one of these.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the photo. Save a backup copy of the photograph in case you make a mistake.

    • 2

Select the "clone" tool. GIMP and Photoshop both have a "clone" tool. Some other programs may refer to this tool as "blend." Use the clone tool to select the color of the skin next to the scar. Hold down your cursor and clone that skin over the scar. This will remove the scar from the photograph.

Use the "clone" tool over other textures of the scar. For example, the scar may go over the lips as well. Clone the lips and use the proper color for them as opposed to regular skin. Save the new photo.
