How to Make Transparent Graphics in Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics program that allows you to export graphics in a variety of formats, some of which support transparency or semi-transparent colors. Transparent graphics allow a background placed on a layer below the graphic (such as a Web page background) to show through some areas of the graphic. Image formats that support transparency include "GIF" and "PNG" images. If you want to create graphics with transparent elements in Illustrator, you can do so by using the "Save for Web & Devices" options menu.
