Connect the other end of your LAN cable to your home's Internet network router. This cable must be connected to the router, and not directly to an Internet modem

    • 3

Return to the HD-DVR and turn on your television and your DVR. Using the remote control device, navigate to the DVR's "Setup" menu. Navigate to the "Network Connection" option.

Using the keys on the remote, select the box that says "Check Network Connection Now." The HD-DVR will activate the LAN hardware in the DVR and then "ping" the Internet and DirecTV's server. When the unit returns the "You are now connected to the Internet" message, your HD-DVR is connected to the network.
