Fitting Instructions for the Homebase Bottom Entry Quiet Ball Valve

Fitting a Homebase Bottom Entry Quiet Ball Valve into a toilet tank is needed when the old ball valve wears out in order to keep the toilet working properly. The ball valve is designed to shut the water supply off inside the tank when it reaches the correct water level. The Homebase Quiet ball valve is very similar to most other ball valves with the water running into the toilet tank from the bottom of the tank. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the water supply at the shut off valve behind the toilet fixture. Empty the toilet tank by flushing the toilet and letting the water drain from the tank.

    • 2

Take the cover off the tank and remove the remaining water from the tank by soaking it up with a sponge. Place an empty pan on the ground underneath the water inlet hose on the bottom of the toilet tank.

    • 3

Loosen the plastic nut where the water inlet hose leads into the bottom of the toilet tank with a pair of adjustable pliers. Detach the inlet hose from the bottom of the ball valve inside the toilet tank.

    • 4

Take the ball valve out of the toilet tank and discard the valve. Place the rubber gasket around the plastic threads of the new Homebase bottom-entry quiet ball valve and insert the ball valve into the hole in the bottom of the toilet tank.

    • 5

Place the other rubber gasket around the threads of the ball valve that are protruding from the bottom of the tank. Tighten the plastic nut onto the threads underneath the tank with the adjustable pliers to secure the valve.

    • 6

Attach the water inlet hose to the bottom of the ball valve and tighten the plastic nut on the hose with the pliers. Place the cover back on the top of the tank and turn the water back on at the shut-off valve.

    • 7

Verify that the new Homebase Bottom Entry Quiet Ball Valve is working properly and that there are no leaks from under the toilet tank.
