How to Make a Beer Pong Table Top Glossy

While some home improvement projects have a functional or decorative result, others might bring you enjoyment and fun with your family and friends. To create a table specifically for games, such as beer pong, you need to apply a glossy finish to the table top. Be sure all of the participants in the game are of a legal age for drinking alcohol before you start playing and enjoying your new beer pong table.

Things You'll Need

• Polyurethane
• Paintbrush
• 220-grit sandpaper
• Cloth
• 0000 steel wool

Instructions

1. Apply one coat of polyurethane to your painted or stained beer pong table with a standard paintbrush. Wait four hours.

2. Sand the tabletop using 220-grit sandpaper. You want the new surface to be smooth with a cloudy coloring. Buff the tabletop with a damp cloth.

3. Add a second coat of polyurethane. Again, let it dry for four hours and sand with 220-grit sandpaper. Wipe with a damp cloth.

4. Brush on one more coat of polyurethane. This ensures you have a glossy finish when you're done. Wait overnight.

5. Buff the table top with 0000 steel wool. This creates a slick, glossy finish for the game table.
