How to Clean Stains From a Western Straw Hat
Western-style straw hats, such as cowboy hats, are not washable in the conventional way. Getting the hats wet will ruin them, but don't use your old straw hat for kindling just yet. There is a way to clean stains from the hats with a dirt removal sponge. These sponges can be found in the cleaning section of most stores under names such as "Magic Eraser." Does this Spark an idea?

Take the hat outside and locate all the stains and spots. The natural light will help reveal all of the stains.

Rub the dry sponge on the hat's stains until they disappear. It will feel as though you are using an eraser.

Shake all the flakes left on the hat onto the ground, and you'll have a clean hat.

This is a messy cleaning method, so it is best done outside.
