Only simple knitting techniques are required to complete a furry scarf, but fur yarn can pose challenges. Because of fur yarn's texture, it can get caught on the tips of the knitting needles. Instructions

    • 1

Tie a slip knot near the end of the fur yarn. Make a slip knot by forming two loops next to one another near the yarn's end. Wrap the second loop around the first loop, and pull the second loop through the center of the first. Pull tightly on the loose end of the yarn and the yarn coming from the skein to tighten the knot.

    • 2

Place the slip knot onto the left needle. Slide the right needle from the front to the back of the left needle, going through the slip knot.

    • 3

Wrap the fur yarn coming from the skein around the right needle's tip, and pull the right needle back through the slip knot. Transfer the new loop on the right needle over to the left needle. This makes one cast-on stitch.

    • 4

Repeat the procedure to for casting on until 23 stitches are on the left needle, including the slip knot.

    • 5

Insert the right needle through stitch nearest the top of the left needle. Wrap the fur yarn around the right needle's tip, pull the right needle through the stitch on the left needle, and drop the stitch just worked-through off of the left needle. Leave the newly-created stitch on the right needle. This makes one knit stitch.

    • 6

Knit each stitch across the row.

    • 7

Knit all stitches across all rows until the pieces measures five feet in length from the cast-on edge. When one skein of yarn is nearing the end, attach a new skein of fur yarn by tying a slip knot in the new skein and sliding the slip knot over one of the stitches on the left needle. Knit the slip knot with that stitch to join the new skein of yarn.

    • 8

Bind off all stitches by knitting two stitches onto the right needle and pulling the first stitch over the second stitch and off of the right needle. Knit another stitch, lift the previous stitch over the new stitch, and repeat. Continue until one stitch remains on the right needle.

    • 9

Cut a five-inch tail of yarn. Thread the yarn tail through the yarn needle. Sew three small stitches along the end of the scarf to secure the loose end. Sew in the loose end from the cast on stitch in the same manner.
