How to Make a Scarf That Looks Like a Cowl

Instructions

    • 1

Lay an old sweater out flat on your work surface. Cut the bottom 10 inches off of the sweater. Discard the top or save it for a future project. Cut up one side of the bottom portion of the sweater and fold it open so it's one long strip.

    • 2

Fold the top edge of the strip down to the bottom edge with the wrong side -- inside -- of the sweater on the outside of the fold. Sew the top and bottom edges together with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Turn the piece right-side out through one of the open ends.

    • 3

Fold the ends of the sweater tube in 1/2-inch. Sew each folded end with a 1/4-inch seam allowance to hold the folds. Slip-stitch the folded ends together with needle and thread to create one continuous circular tube.
