How to Hook Up a PS3 With Audio Visual Cables
The PlayStation 3 video game console comes supplied with a set of standard Audio Visual (AV) cables for connecting to television sets. AV cables feature a PS3 connector on one end and three color-coded plugs on the other end. The color-coded plugs each carry a different signal: the white plug carries the left stereo channel audio signal, while the red plug carries the right stereo channel audio signal. The yellow plug carries the video signal. All three must be properly connected for the PS3 to function.

1
Locate the PS3 connector on the AV cable. This connector is a broad, flat piece of plastic and is similar in appearance to a USB connector.
-
2
Plug the PS3 connector end of the AV cable into the port labeled "AV Multi Out," which is located on the rear of the PS3 console.

3
Locate the yellow video plug on the opposite end of the AV cable. Connect this to the yellow "Video In" port on your television set. On some sets, this port is located on the front, back, or both. Choose whichever option suits you best.
-
4
Plug the red and white stereo plugs into the red and white "Audio In" ports on your television set. They will be adjacent to the yellow video plug.
-
5
Turn on your PS3 and television. Press the "Input" button on your television remote control to change the input from cable to the PS3. If your television has multiple inputs, you may need to press the "Input" button multiple times until you switch over to the PS3 input.
