In October 2009, Barnes and Noble entered the emerging electronic book reader market with the Nook. By the end of 2010, the Nook had become the best selling item in the company's history. Furthermore, ebook sales for the Nook had surpassed sales of traditionally printed books. Barnes and Noble offers more than 2 million titles for the Nook that include books, newspapers and magazines. Once you find the ebook you want, it takes only a few taps of the screen or clicks through the Barnes and Noble website to get it on your Nook.

      Visit the Barnes and Noble website at bn.com. Click "Sign in" at the top right of the screen and enter your email address and password in the new window. If you do not have a Barnes and Noble account, click "Create an Account" to set one up. You will need to enter a credit card number for ebook purchases.

      Click the downward facing arrow next to "All Departments" on the left side of the screen. Choose "Nook Books" to enter the online ebook store.

      Browse for ebooks. Click on the ebook you want to download to the Nook. Click either "Buy Now" or "Get Free ebook." If you are buying the ebook, you may be prompted to re-enter your account password. When the purchase is complete, the ebook will be sent to the Library in your Nook.

      Tap "Shop" on the Nook quick navigation bar near the bottom of the device.

      Shop for ebooks using the "Search" or "Browse" fields located near the top-right corner of the Nook screen. Tap the ebook image to get more details.

      Choose an ebook to add to the Nook. Tap the button displaying the price, then tap "Confirm." You may be prompted to enter the password for your Barnes and Noble account. Once the purchase is complete, the ebook will appear in your Library.
