How to Decorate a White Sofa and Gray Walls

Use interesting white furniture for a room that makes a statement.

A room with white furniture and gray walls is a room that is inviting, crisp and modern. Gray walls are a contemporary option to white paint and have the added benefit of being more forgiving of dirt than white walls. Choose flat gray paint to avoid an aluminum look in the room and add plenty of lighting through table lights, sconces and floor lamps. White sofas and gray walls can be combined to make many different room decors.

Instructions

1. Paint walls a dark charcoal gray and use crisp white furniture. Add dark slate-colored drapes and touches of color through throw pillows, flower arrangements and one or two large pieces of wall art.

2. Create a contemporary look with symmetrical black and white wall art hung together in a square or in line on dark gray walls. White furniture and black accessories like a black lamp base and coffee table give the room a modern, edgy look. Use accent pillows in neutral colors that add texture through patterns.

3. Use silver to give a gray and white room some extra sparkle. Try adding silver light fixtures, silver curtains and silver candlesticks. Accessorize with black, such as black vases and black centerpieces. Add a bit of color with green plants.

4. Design a funky, modern room with steel gray walls, low black coffee tables and some unique light fixtures that double as a focal point. Add texture to the room by creating a design in the paint on one wall, such as lines or squares, and a small floral centerpiece on the coffee table.
