Desitin is a diaper rash cream containing zinc oxide, oils, beeswax and several other ingredients. Because of the oily, waxy content, Desitin sticks easily to hair . If you have accidentally gotten this product in your or your baby's hair, it probably will not wash out immediately with regular shampoo. You will first need to use a degreasing product and you probably already have a suitable product in your kitchen.

Comb the hair to remove as much of the Desitin as you can. Wet the hair with warm water. Squirt 1 tsp. of a degreasing dish detergent on the Desitin.

Rub the dish detergent into the hair with your fingers. Comb through the hair to pull some of the Desitin out. Wash the Desitin from the comb using dish detergent and hot water.

Put shampoo for oily hair into the hair and lather. Rinse it out with warm water. Reapply the shampoo and lather again before rinsing thoroughly.

Comb through the hair and let it dry naturally. If any traces of Desitin remain in the hair after it has dried, repeat the procedure again.
