How to Install X-Cart for GoDaddy
When you want to set up a storefront for your GoDaddy website, X-Cart is an economical option. The ecommerce software is easy to use, featuring out-of-the-box shopping cart setup. Installation is quick and simple. X-Cart is available in evaluation and paid versions. Both versions have the same functionality. However, the evaluation version displays registration reminders, which you may consider an annoyance.

Download the X-Cart software to your computer's hard drive. If you purchase the software, the download link is in the email message you receive after purchase. To download an evaluation copy of the software, click the "Download" tab on the X-Cart website.

Right-click the downloaded X-Cart file. Select "Extract All" to unzip the contents of the file.

Open your Internet Explorer browser. Type "ftp://www.yourdomainname.com" into the browser's address bar and press "Enter." You can also use an alternative FTP client software such as CuteFTP, CoffeeCup or FileZilla.

Type your FTP username and password into the designated fields. Click the "Login" button to access your GoDaddy Web server files. Your GoDaddy server files appear in the right pane of your FTP client. The files from your computer's hard drive appear in the left pane. Locate the unzipped X-Cart folder on your computer's hard drive in the left pane. While holding down your left mouse button, drag and drop the folder into the right pane. This adds the X-Cart folder to your Web server files.

Type the Web address for your X-Cart directory into the address bar of your Internet browser and press "Enter." An example of such a Web address is "http://www.yourdomainname.com/xcart/install.php." Replace the generic domain name with your domain name.

Read through and agree to the X-Cart software licensing agreement. Click "Next." The X-Cart installation wizard will automatically run a self-check. When the self-check is complete, click "Next."

Type your Web server details into the designated boxes. Click "Next."

Verify that all of your Web server details are correct and click "Next." Wait for the wizard to complete the X-Cart installation. When installation is complete, click "Next."

Select a skin or theme for your X-Cart and enter your PayPal account information, if applicable. Click "Next." Wait for the creation of your X-Cart "fingerprint." A message will appear indicating that your X-Cart installation is complete.
