How to Make Figures With Rice Krispie Treats
Rice Krispie treats are easy to manipulate and shape and are a popular choice to create figures. The light material is also used to provide stability for a complex cake structure and then covered with fondant to look like part of the cake. The treats don't have to be a part of a cake to be made into different shapes. They can be shaped into figures for a the dessert at a themed party or just for a whimsical treat. Divide the figure into head, arms, legs and body sections. Mold the Rice Krispie treats into the proper shape for each section. Grease your hands with butter or shortening while modeling the body parts to keep the Rice Krispie treats from sticking. Press each section together slightly to make a flat surface where they will meet when the figure is put together.

Refrigerate the sections overnight to harden them.

Refine the shapes using a knife to cut away excess Rice Krispie treat.

Push half a toothpick into a section where it will meet another. Use two toothpicks if the sections are large or heavy and need more stability

Brush royal icing around the toothpick and the area where the two sections meet.

Join the sections by pushing the other half of the toothpick into the corresponding section. Add more icing if necessary.

Connect all of the body part sections and add icing where necessary.

Refrigerate overnight to set.

Tips & Warnings
If the Rice Krispie Treat crumbles, make another batch with less butter or no butter at all.
You can also use other kinds of edible glue instead of royal icing, like tylose powder mixed with water, melted chocolate or marshmallow fluff.
