How to Know the Temperature of a Laptop

Many recent laptop motherboards come with heat sensors that report the temperature of the laptop's central processing unit, hard drive and graphic processing unit. Some motherboard manufacturers provide temperature monitoring utilities. If your manufacturer does not provide this utility, many third-party applications exist that can pull the sensor information to inform you on the temperature of your motherboard.

Instructions

SpeedFan

1. Go to almico.com. Click "Download."

2. Click "SpeedFan 4.44." Double-click "installspeedfan444.exe" after the download finishes.

3. Click "I Agree." Click "Next." Select your SpeedFan installation directory.

4. Click "Install." Click "Close" to close the installation window.

5. Launch SpeedFan. Click "Close" on the Tips window. The main SpeedFan window displays your laptop's temperature readings.

HW Monitor

1. Go to cpuid.com. Click "Software."

2. Click "HW Monitor." Click "1.18 setup, English." Click "Download Now."

3. Double-click "hwmonitor_1.18-setup.exe" to begin the installation process.

4. Click "Next" twice. Select your shortcut folder and click "Next." Click "Next" and "Install." Click "Finish."

5. Launch HW Monitor. All of your laptop temperatures are displayed on the program window divided by the hardware sensors on your motherboard and components.

AIDA64

1. Go to aida64.com.

2. Click "Products" and select an AIDA64 edition. Click "Downloads." Click "Download" and select a download mirror.

3. Double-click the AIDA64 file downloaded. Choose an installation language for this temperature monitor and click "OK." Click "Next." Click "I accept the agreement." Click "Next" four times. Click "Install." Click "Finish" and wait for AIDA64 to automatically launch.

4. Click through each hardware component on the AIDA64 sidebar to see the laptop temperature information.
