How to Hang Ribbed Anchors
Ribbed plastic wall anchors are used mostly on concrete or brick walls. Once installed into the wall, the screw is inserted into the anchor, forcing the ribbed shank of the anchor apart. The ribs grip the walls of the hole, keeping the anchor in place and allowing for items to be hung from the screw. These types of anchors come in different lengths and widths to fit different size screws, and are generally sold in packets containing multiple anchors. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place a masonry drill bit into a power drill's chuck. Tighten the chuck either manually or with a chuck key.
-
2
Position the tip of the masonry bit against the wall in the place where the anchor needs to be installed. Ensure that the bit is perpendicular to the wall. Drill into the wall so that the hole is the same length as the ribbed anchor.

3
Brush or blow away all dust from the entrance of the hole. Push the ribbed anchor into the hole, so that the end of the anchor is flush with the wall surface.
-
4
Insert the tip of the screw into the open end of the anchor. Use a screw gun to drive the screw into the anchor. If installing a bracket or other hanging device against the wall, insert the screw through the hole in the bracket before installing the screw into the ribbed anchor.
