How to End New Friendships on Facebook

End a new friendship on Facebook if you accidentally approve someone's friend request or if you do so without giving the request proper consideration. Facebook doesn't inform friends when you "unfriend" them, so the only way someone realizes that you've unfriended them is if he attempts to click your profile. Block a new friend whom you want to completely prevent from communicating with you.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign in to your Facebook account. Click the "Friends" button under your profile name and display picture, and choose "Manage Friend List."

    • 2

Choose "Recently Added" from the drop-down list in the top, left corner of the friend list. Hover your mouse over the friend's name and click the "X" that appears to the right of his name.

    • 3

Click the "Remove From Friends" button to confirm you want to remove the person from your friend list. He no longer has access to any profile information of yours that isn't public.

Tips & Warnings

  • Prevent a person from communicating with you entirely by clicking his profile name within the "Friends" list and then choosing "Report/Block" and clicking "Block."
