  • Make sure the glass and mirrors are clean before applying the mixture.
  • Do not do this outside when the temperature is below freezing, or the glass may crack.
  • Do not use hot water.

on 9/23/2006 I've always used shaving cream. The white foam kind, not the gel. Put that foam on a rag and wipe down. It really works well on motorcycle face shields.

on 1/23/2006 If your windscreen is held in using a rubber seal (not a glued or bonded windscreen), take great care when removing the cover. It is possible to pull the windscreen out of it's aperture if the cover has frozen to it and you pull too hard.

on 12/16/2005 This sounds simple, but cover the windshield with almost anything. I bought a $1.99 blue tarp, big enough to cover my windshield and used some elastic bungee cords and hooked them to the car. You may have to bend some of the ends for your car application. Make sure the tarp goes over a part of the roof above the glass. Be careful not to scratch your paint, you may lessen this chance by buying the rubber or plastic covered hook ended bungees. It takes me 10-15 seconds to undo the 4 cords and toss it all in the garage.

on 11/22/2005 Put a cut cardboard box over the windows. This worked great when I worked the late shift. No icy windows to scrape.
