How to Catch a Heracross in Pearl

In the "Pokemon" video games, Heracross is a horned beetle that feeds on sweet tree sap. During battle, Heracross excels at physical strength and uses his horn to toss its foes. As this Pokemon grows, it learns numerous Normal- and Fighting-type attacks, including Brick Break, Take Down and Close Combat. It also learns Megahorn, one of the strongest Bug-type moves in the game. To lure out Heracross in "Pokemon Pearl," you must smear Sweet Honey on trees around the Sinnoh region.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel to Floaroma Town, a small town in the western section of Sinnoh.

    • 2

Walk north from town to enter Floaroma Meadow.

    • 3

Enter the cottage on the south side of Floaroma Meadow.

    • 4

Talk to the owner of the cottage to purchase Sweet Honey for 100 PokeDollars.

    • 5

Exit the cottage and locate a brown honey tree. These trees appear in numerous areas around the Sinnoh region, including Routes 205 to 215, the Valley Windworks, the Fuego Ironworks and Floaroma Meadow.

    • 6

Slather Sweet Honey on your chosen tree. You may apply the honey to multiple trees, but keep track of each marked tree.

    • 7

Wait six to 12 hours and then return to the marked tree to encounter a wild Pokemon. If a wild Heracross doesn't appear, repeat the process until you encounter one.

    • 8

Weaken Heracross with attacks but don't knock it out. Paralyzing attacks, such as Lick and Thunderwave, will make the Pokemon easier to capture.

    • 9

Throw a PokeBall to capture the wild Heracross.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of purchasing Sweet Honey, you can find hidden jars around the Floaroma Meadow with the Dowsing Machine application on your Poketch.

  • When examining honey-coated trees, you may encounter various other species of wild Pokemon, including Cherubi, Wurmple and Silcoon.
