How to Weld a Free-Standing Steel Banner
Weld your own free-standing steel banner in a metal shop that is suitable for any business. Free-standing steel banners are used for general advertising, indoors or outdoors, and will last for many years of use. They stand about seven-feet tall and are about two-feet wide, which makes them large enough for most types of vertical banners. Purchase your steel from any steel mill and use an arc welder to weld the pieces together. The proper use of an arc welder will ensure a strong steel banner.

1
Lay two 84-inch tubes 25 inches apart and parallel. Lay three 25-inch tubes between them at a right angle and space them 40 ½ inches apart. The two outside 25-inch tubes are flush with the ends of the 84-inch tubes. Weld the pipes together in this position. This is the steel banner frame.

2
Position the two 41-inch pipes flat, parallel and 25 inches apart. These are the feet to the free-standing steel banner. Set the banner frame on top of the feet at a right angle so it is centered, 20 inches away from the ends of the 20-inch tubes. Weld the frame to the feet in this position. This is your free-standing steel banner.
