How to Get Smoke Smell Out of Stuffed Toys

To keep the toys safe for use, you want to remove the smells in a way that naturally pulls the odor out of the toys without damaging them. Stay away from chemical cleaners that could later come into contact with your children when they play with the toys. There are two all-natural elements that will deodorize safely; remember to read care instruction tags as well because some stuffed animals are machine-washable.

Things You'll Need

• Baking soda
• White vinegar
• Spray bottle
• Washer
• Laundry detergent

Instructions

1. Sprinkle the stuffed toys with baking soda and let sit overnight. The baking soda will collect the smoke odor and freshen the toys naturally.

2. Shake off the stuffed toys the next day to remove the baking soda.

3. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts water and white vinegar. Mist this deodorizing spray over the stuffed toys and allow to air dry.

4. Machine wash stuffed toys labeled safe for this routine. Use a warm wash cycle with your regular detergent and dry as directed.
