How to Boil Cauliflower on the Stove
Cauliflower is a popular vegetable known for both its versatility and nutritional benefits. Cauliflower has antioxidant properties and activates the body's natural detox system. Although it is not scientifically verified, cauliflower is thought to help prevent certain types of cancer. Cauliflower does not have much natural taste, but it is a good compliment to other flavors and can be prepared in several different ways. Boiling is one of the simplest ways to make cauliflower. Use a sharp knife to slice the cauliflower florets from the stalks. Slice each floret into bite-sized chunks for a faster cooking time.

Add 4 to 6 cups of water (depending on the amount of cauliflower you are cooking) to a large pot with 1 tsp. of lemon juice. Bring it to a boil and add the sliced cauliflower.

Boil the cauliflower approximately five to 10 minutes on medium-high heat until it is tender. If you intend to mash the cauliflower after you boil it, allow it to cook until it becomes very soft.

Transfer the cauliflower to a colander and allow it to drain for approximately five minutes before either serving it or adding it to a recipe.
