How to Crochet Pot Scrubbies

Switch yarn colors every few rows for a patterned pot scrubber.

Pot scrubbies, or dish cloths, are a simple project for beginner level crocheters. You can create your own washable scrubbers in place of disposable sponges, and since the cloths are small, you can make them using leftover yarn. This pattern specifies worsted-weight cotton yarn, but you may use any type of washable yarn, and you can even make the pot scrubbies in a variety of textures.

Things You'll Need

  • Worsted-weight cotton yarn
  • Size F hook
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle

Instructions

    • 1

Chain stitch 34 stitches onto the size F hook.

    • 2

Insert the hook into the third chain stitch from the end, and crochet a half double crochet stitch onto the rest of the row.

    • 3

Cut the yarn, make a knot in the end and weave the end through a few nearby stitches with a darning needle.

    • 4

Chain stitch two stitches, then half double crochet the next row. Repeat until the pot scrubber is the desired size, typically 8-inches square.
