How to Design a White & Gold Elegant Christmas Tree

Use gold ornaments to create an elegant tree.

Traditional Christmas decorations are often made with the colors red and green. If you want to get away from the common colors and create an elegant and shimmering tree, consider using gold and white decorations. While these colors aren't the most traditional for Christmas trees, you can still find plenty of decorations in this color palette.

• White lights
• White pearl garland

Instructions

Feather Tree

1. Purchase a white feather tree in the size of your choice. These artificial trees are made with feather branches, rather than green branches. This is a good choice if you want a completely white and gold tree. It also works well for someone who prefers a completely nontraditional tree.

2. String white lights onto the tree to give it a glow.

3. Add a pearl garland to the tree. Look for long, fake pearl strands at a craft store to use as your garland.

4. Place gold Christmas ball ornaments onto the tree. Choose some matte ornaments and some glittering ornaments. Select ball ornaments in varied sizes to give the tree more visual interest.

5. Use gold ribbon to create a bow and place it on top of the tree. Feather trees often can't support heavy tree toppers, so a bow is a good option.

Traditional Tree

1. Choose an artificial green tree or a real Christmas tree. String white lights onto the tree.

2. Use gold ribbon as a garland for the tree.

3. Choose a variety of ornaments in gold and white colors. For example, select traditional Christmas balls in both colors, including both round and oblong balls. Choose golden angels and candy canes. Add white snowmen and snowflakes to the tree.

4. Complete the tree with a gold star on top.
