Skip the expensive and unwieldly professional vacuum, yours will work just fine.

Food, mud, gravel, spilled beverages -- the interior of your car can get dirty fast. You do not often think about the traffic into and out of the interior of your car, just the traffic you find yourself stuck in. Instructions

    • 1

Turn the vacuum on and vacuum from the top to the bottom of the car. Use the upholstery attachment to clean the headliner and seats.

    • 2

Vacuum the floor and trunk using an attachment that pulls up any ground in dirt; any attachment with bristles will work. Be sure to pull floor mats out and vacuum with the floor brush attachment as well.

    • 3

Use a crevice attachment to get into small, hard to reach places. Some Kirby vacuum cleaners come with two of these attachments; use the smallest for areas like cup holders and seat pockets.

    • 4

Vacuum plastic areas such as the dashboard and its components with a soft attachment like a dusting brush. Hard vacuum surfaces can scratch and nick vinyl and plastics.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Kirby website advertises several products specifically for car interiors. These cleansers, such as their Foam Carpet Cleaner, are used to remove ground-in dirt.

  • Water and electricity never mix. If you are also washing your car, be sure that all buckets of water are far from the vacuum and the electrical cord.
